Recomended Coffee Shops

As I stated on my previous post “Let’s have a Coffee”, I would like to recommend 6 shops where one can find a good brew in different places of the Santiago area. The main criteria applied was to choose places where the coffee itself is the main draw, which is why I think these findings should leave any coffee enthusiast happy.

Café - Carli Jean

Cofi (http://cofi.cl/)

With 2 shops in the Providencia Area (Almirante Pastene 173 y Pedro de Valdivia 180, mon to fri, open from 8:00 to 20:00), “Cofi” has already become a classic. I’m a frequent and loyal customer of this shop in Pedro de Valdivia, were I’ve held many meetings early in the morning and also long work sessions in the afternoon. Unlike other places, this shop opens early morning, which is an advantage if you need to meet with a busy people or early risers. Espresso $1.190.

Fix (@fix_cafe)

Only a few steps away from “El Golf” metro station (Av. Apoquindo 3411, Pasaje Interior, Local 4, mon to fri, opn from 8:00 to 18:30), “Fix” is a small shop that serves as the perfect spot for casual meetings. There’s a varied coffee menu to choose from with the “Kioto”, which is filtered cold, being one of the most celebrated brews. It opens at 8am, which should be a bonus for early risers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer Wi-Fi service. Espresso $1.200.

Café Pardo (http://cafepardo.cl/)

Café Pardo opened recently an dis probably the best coffee you can find in the lower Providencia area (Providencia 903, Mon to Fri, open from 8:30 to 20:30). Very nice place, ideal for a meeting or a work afternoon. It’s always nice to be able to pay with one bill and not receive a bunch of coins in return. Espresso $1.000.

Espresso Bar (@EspressoBarCafe)

For a weekend, it’s as good as it gets, since it opens until late on Sundays. This shop is located on a nice spot, only a few steps from “Plaza Las Lilas” (Republica de Cuba 1411, Mon to Fri, open from 8:00 to 21:00 hrs; Sat and Sun, open from 9:30 to 21:00 hrs). It has a nice shaded terrace which is usually full of customers during the afternoon. You can tell the owners are coffee enthusiasts. Espresso $1.300.

Coffe Culture (@CoffeeCulture01)

Located in Maipú, a few blocks from the Town Square (General Ordoñez 199, Mon to Fri: open from 9:00 to 21:30 hrs; Sat: 11:00 to 21:00 hrs) is by far the best choice n the area. It’s a cozy shop, decorated as an old house, filled with books and a piano. They not only serve coffee, but also sell toasted beans upon request. Espresso $1.500.

Wonderful (http://www.wonderfulcafe.com/)

With two shops, one in “El Bosque” (San Sebastián 2727, Mon to Fri: 8:30 to 18:00 hrs) and one in Lastarria (Lastarria 90, Mon to Fri: 9:00 to 21:45; Sat and Sun: 10:30 to 21:45) it’s always a nice option. Their slogan is “You deserve good coffee” which shows the level of concern towards the customer and the product. Espresso $1.300.

Clearly, there are more options, but these are my absolute favorites. If you have more recommendatios, feel free to say so on the comment section below.
